Alcaltel-Lucent's 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM) is a key network management tool with an extensive software package that enables unified, end-to-end management of IP/MPLS and Carrier Ethernet networks and the services they deliver. 5620 SAM helps large telecom companies setup and maintain their networks to all customer tiers.

The Service Portal Group develops and maintains a unique, lightweight web application that abstracts and simplifies the configuration tasks of 5620 SAM systems. The Service Portal front-end (UI / UX) was dated and required an overhaul to improve the overall look and feel, enhance the user experience and to provide a common interface that would promote efficiencies when building custom solutions for clients.

Tasks:

• Created a prototype PSD graphics file that defined the new brand for the service portal.
• Designed, developed and tested a prototype website to showcase the new Service portal user interface and user experience.
• Designed and developed Jquery plug-ins to manipulate and animate navigation, grid and form elements.
• Implemented small user interface experiments as requested by stakeholder members to validate design ideas.
• Demonstrated the prototype website to key stakeholders to gain feedback and to ensure a collaborative atmosphere was maintained throughout the prototyping stage of the project.
